“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.”
A couple of years ago, I boarded the ship called Toastmasters, unsure of the course but excited to sail. At that time, I was navigating through unfamiliar waters—shifting careers, stepping out of the dentist’s chair, and learning to find my voice in a whole new world.
After spending years working as a dentist, I decided to take a completely different path. I became a certified life coach, trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), meditation, and techniques focused on balance and emotional healing. It was a big shift—from treating teeth to helping people reconnect with themselves, manage stress, and live more fulfilling lives.
All I had were peanuts of confidence, 440 watts of untamed energy, and a heart full of curiosity.
From the very first meeting at Ace It Marina TMC, I knew I had found my harbor.
Toastmasters didn’t just give me direction—it gave me a deck to stand on, a crew to learn with, and the wind to move forward.
In this ocean of possibilities, every role gave me direction, every speech carried me forward, and every feedback pointed me to clearer skies.
Becoming the Club President was something I had never envisioned for myself. Leadership? Me? I used to hide behind “too new” and “not enough experience.” But Toastmasters doesn’t just push us to grow—it reveals what already exists within.
I stepped into the role with uncertainty—and emerged with clarity, responsibility, and humility.
I brought every ounce of commitment, creativity, and courage I had.
While others had more years behind them, I came with fresh eyes, steady hands, and a full heart. Leadership, I learned, isn’t about titles or perfection. It’s about presence, purpose, and the grit to keep going.
I had found not just a platform but a compass, a training ground, and a launchpad.
Today, I’m honored to serve as the Public Relations Manager of District 127, not as a captain who knows it all, but as a fellow sailor—steadily learning and consistently showing up. I sail forward with the same energy that first brought me here, but now with purpose, direction, and a crew spread across this vast district.
Our compass this year points to three guiding stars
Amplify – We will echo the stories that often go unheard, giving each club and member the space to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
Unite – Through collaborations, campaigns, and shared platforms, we will foster a deep sense of connection across every area, club, and member—truly sailing as one family.
Inspire – With creativity, consistency, and heart, we will spark pride in participation, stir purpose in every role, and inspire leaders to rise in their own unique voice.
Let’s sail boldly, tell powerfully, and lead compassionately—bringing our mission to life, side by side.
One family, many voices, one vision.
Together, we grow as one empowered and inclusive family, united by purpose and voice.
Yours in Service and Storytelling,
Dr. Jinal Gandhi
