Toastmaster Contest Overview
International Speech Contest
- Contestants present a 5 to 7 minute original speech on any subject of their choice.
- The District 127 winner will advance to the Region Quarterfinals for a chance to compete in the World Championship of Public Speaking.
Qualifying requirements:
- International Speech contestants need to be a toastmaster of good standing
- From a toastmaster club of good standing and
- Must have completed Level 2 in the Pathways education program.
Humorous Speech Contest:
- Contestants present a 5 to 7 minute original humorous speech on any subject of their choice.
- There is no additional competition beyond the District level.
Qualifying requirement:
- Humorous Speech contestants need to be a toastmaster of good standing, from a toastmaster club of good standing.
Evaluation Speech Contest:
- Contestants present a 2 to 3 minute evaluation speech based on a test speaker’s 7-minute speech.
- There is no additional competition beyond the District level.
Qualifying requirement:
- Evaluation Speech contestants need to be a toastmaster of good standing
- From a toastmaster club of good standing.
Table Topics Speech Contest:
- Contestants present a 1 to 2 minute impromptu speech based on a topic selected by the contest chair.
- There is no additional competition beyond the District level.
Qualifying requirement:
- Table Topics Speech contestants need to be a toastmaster of good standing,
- From a toastmaster club of good standing.
Other Contests:
Clubs may conduct their own contests for all contests at any point, but winners of contests not chosen by the District will not advance beyond the club. Possible contests include Debate, or Tall Tales.
